Anema e Core is a 1950 song. Since the fifties the song has been very popular, both in Italy and abroad. The original title of the song was to be “Che matenata 'e sole” (What a sunny morning), but composer Salve D'Esposito thought that, after the success of “Me so 'mbriacato 'e sole” (I am drunk with sun), it would be better to leave that subject. Because of a disagreement between Tito Manlio and his wife the song was called “Anema e Core”.
Luna rossa was presented to the Piedigrotta Abici of the ‘50 by Giorgio Consolini accompanied by the orchestra of Nello Segurini. It became an instant international hit sung by artists from Josephine Baker to Frank Sinatra.
lyrics
ANEMA E CORE
Nuje ca perdimmo 'a pace e 'o suonno,
nun ce dicimmo maje pecch?
Vocche ca vase nun ne vonno,
nun so' sti vvocche oje ne'!
Pure, te chiammo e nun rispunne
pe' fa dispietto a me
Tenimmoce accus: anema e core,
tenimmoce accuss anema e core!
Forse sarr ca 'o chianto doce,
forse sarr ca bene fa
Quanno mme sento cchi felice,
nun felicit.
Specie si vvote tu mme dice,
distratta, 'a verit .
Stu desiderio 'e te mme fa paura,
camp cu te, sempre cu te, pe' nun mur.
Che ce dicimmo a fa parole amare,
si 'o bbene po' camp cu nu respiro?
Si smanie pure tu pe' chist'ammore,
tenimmoce accuss anema e core!
Tenimmoce accuss: anema e core
LUNA ROSSO
Vaco distrattamente abbandunato...
Ll'uocchie sott''o cappiello annascunnute,
mane 'int''a sacca e bávero aizato...
Vaco siscanno ê stelle ca só' asciute...
Fischio.........................
E 'a luna rossa mme parla 'e te,
Io lle domando si aspiette a me,
e mme risponne: "Si 'o vvuó' sapé,
ccá nun ce sta nisciuna..."
E i' chiammo 'o nomme pe' te vedé,
ma, tutt''a gente ca parla 'e te,
risponne: "E' tarde che vuó' sapé?!
Ccá nun ce sta nisciuna!..."
Luna rossa,
chi mme sarrá sincera?
Luna rossa,
se n'è ghiuta ll'ata sera
senza mme vedé...
E io dico ancora ch'aspetta a me,
for''o barcone stanott'ê ttre,
e prega 'e Sante pe' mme vedé...
Ma nun ce sta nisciuna...
II
Mille e cchiù appuntamente aggio tenuto...
Tante e cchiù sigarette aggio appicciato...
Tanta tazze 'e café mme só' bevuto...
Mille vucchelle amare aggio vasato....
Fischio.........................
E 'a luna rossa mme parla 'e te,
